The Girl Left Behind – Kate Zurovchak

Her golden beauty gathers the wind.
She, a pure soul, has never spoken sin.
The fair heart leaves, upon his lips, a stain.
The wind retreats, replaced with cold.
A tear falls, as a distant sail begins to unfold.
The rose did wilt, but not the pain,
For the ship that never came.

    Amazing Kate!(:

  2. Wow! Kate – this is absolutely beautiful! Excellent rhythm and word choice throughout your poem. I LOVE the last line, too. My heart ached at the end of the poem – which is the hallmark of a great poem – drawing an emotional response from the reader. Well done!

This poem is so beautiful. I wish I could write as well as you!
