They – Laila Carter

Look.
Look. At. Them.
They worry. They panic.
They stress about the little pointer
That rotates inside twelve numbers.
How they run, gallop, stride through the streets
Make me
Disagree.
With all their desires,
Their unnecessary wants for trivial attention,
Their seem ridiculous,
Wanting. Wishing. Pleading.
Too unnecessary.

Look at them.
Only asking me in unwavering pitches.
Monotone to my voice
Same wavelength
Ordering their wants. Desires.
I only obey
And observe
Disgusted.

Look at them.
Their lust. Desire. Greed.
Unnecessary wants rule their world
And I rule their wants.
And yet
To be them
And yet
To have their wanting
Possibly
Fascinating

I.
No.
I.
Can’t.
I…
Want
Their wanting.
So. Are. They.
Like.
Me.
